### Physical vs Virtual Devices

RackN licenses Physical Devices as unique systems that are persistent over time. Virtual Devices are not tracked as unique or persistent systems; instead, the total number of possible Virtual Devices is licensed to allow for the ephemeral nature of these systems. This distinction reflects the anticipated use of each resource type.

### Provision vs Machine

RackN offers two license models: per provision activity and per unique machine. An activity is counted when a machine has one or more provisioning activities within a month. These are tracked automatically and reported to RackN for billing purposes. Unique machines is a simple count of uniquely registered devices.

### Community License

RackN offers a no-cost Community License for non-commercial and home use. Contact RackN during your trial license period and ask to be migrated to a Community License. No payment is required, but you must provide a valid email address.
